As a designer I work across both print and digital projects, I don’t like to restrain myself to one specific area of design and I like to see my portfolio as a testament to my flexible skill set. Every day varies, from emerging myself into user experience/user interface design on digital projects; to branding, literature and installations on print projects. What ever the project holds, my love for design and Illustration will be at the centre of it.
In my current position I am the lead designer at Cargo Creative; a small, creative design agency based in Newcastle upon Tyne. We deliver bespoke, creative services to a wide range of clients for print and digital projects. Within my role I am responsible for the planning, implementation and delivery of the teams design solutions across both print and digital applications.
Handcrafting Pixels has been created to document my opinions, design and illustration as a designer in a world dominated by digital. I wanted a medium that allowed me to share my opinions, thoughts and ideas more openly and honestly. I love to create things and especially things people like and enjoy, therefore I want Handcrafting Pixels to represent that love.
So why Handcrafting Pixels? Well I wanted a brand that represents exactly who I am and more importantly what I do. My love for design started as a child with a pen and paper in hand. That is something that has always stuck with me and even now I try to start every project in the same way. These days my designs always end up computer aided in some form however that doesn’t mean they aren’t handcrafted. So the name is a bit of a play on the changing world we find ourselves in, a juxtaposition, everything I do is Handcrafting Pixels.
I have recently helped work on the brand and website for Wedding Makeup Artist Anna Louise.
